OGS Co-Sponsors AISO Conference

The Office of Graduate Studies is proud to have been a gold level sponsor of the Association for International Student Organizations conference, which was held on March 14-16, 2014 on the Allendale campus. A total of 178 international students from over 40 universities attended.
Hosted by Grand Valley’s International Student Organization, the theme was “Leadership and Communication.” Sheila Siwela, Zambia’s ambassador to the U.S., gave the keynote address on Saturday, March 15, at 10 a.m. in the Kirkhof Center, Grand River Room.
A business leader, Siwela founded Sheila Siwela Global LLC, which promotes trade and investments in Zambia and the U.S. She is an expert in gender and women’s issues, leadership and trade issues.
Former international students and faculty members lead the conference’s communications sessions; business leaders will present sessions on networking, sustainability, entrepreneurship and minority-owned businesses.
