Three students doing water testing in a stream

Blue Bridge Agile Learning Center

Blue Bridge 2021-2022

Project Description

We transformed an old drainage area into usable outdoor classroom and play space. We added native plants that will filter the stormwater runoff before it returns to the watershed. The students studied the water flow, the native plants, and playground safety.

Fostering Lifelong Stewardship

The children have increased awareness of the plants and animals that live in our natural space. The children see the benefits as a previously flooded area has transformed into a play space.

Project Description:

Blue Bridge School continued to build on to our Groundswell project from last school year by continuing to add on to our outdoor classroom and playscape. We have added three art and writing easels and woodchips to our garden area. We now can partner with local art teachers and studios to welcome artists into our space and learn from them about outdoor art installations. The children will then be able to create their own outdoor art on our easels. The easels will also be used for outdoor classes and writing.

Fostering Lifelong Stewardship:

Connections to lifelong stewardship. 100% of our Students say they feel peaceful and connected to the environment while creating in the natural space. Students have been able to identify an increasing number of native local plants, birds, and butterflies.
