Engineering Experiential Learning & General Education (GE) Issues Credit FAQs
What is the GE Issues requirement?
You need to take 2 GE Issues courses. These courses are designed to help you develop three Essential Skills:
- Collaboration – Working effectively on a team
- Integration – Applying knowledge from multiple disciplines to complex situations
- Problem Solving – Designing and evaluating solutions to open-ended problems
Your engineering Experiential Learning experience (Co-Op) develops these same skills through real-world engineering practice.
Am I Eligible to use EGR Co-Op for Issues Credit?
Yes, if you graduate in December 2026 or later.

Can I use all or part of the Co-Ops I took before the fall of 2026?
Yes!
What do I have to do to receive Issues credit?
You must complete the Experiential Learning Reflection form and write a 1–2-page Reflection Paper after finishing the required 6+ credits. The Reflection Form and Essay can be submitted here starting November 1, 2026.
When will MyPath reflect the Issues Requirement being fulfilled?
Only after:
- You complete at least 6 credits of Co-Op
- You submit and receive approval for your Reflection Paper
Once approved, the General Education Director notifies you and the Records Office, and your degree audit will be updated.
