The campus food drive to restock the shelves at the Replenish Basic Needs Center runs through December 6. Donation boxes are available in many campus buildings.

On Giving Tuesday, which is on December 3, campus community members will rally to support the Replenish Basic Needs Center to help Grand Valley students thrive in and out of the classroom.

The Laker community has an opportunity to restock the Replenish shelves ahead of Giving Tuesday by donating non-perishable food and personal items during a food drive.

The food drive runs through December 6. Donation boxes are available throughout the Allendale, Pew Grand Rapids and Health campuses. Suggested items to donate range from laundry detergent to toothpaste to granola bars. Explore the full list of in-demand items online and learn more about supporting Replenish during Giving Tuesday.

In an academic year, Replenish serves more than 2,300 students, according to Lariesha Lee, assistant director for the Center for Women and Gender Equity.

One of the driving tenets of the Replenish Basic Needs Center is the understanding that Grand Valley students embody widely diverse life circumstances. Lee said the center strives to offer a ”non-judgmental space that welcomes students from all identities, backgrounds and socioeconomic status.” Read more about the center and graduate Len Van Popering's challenge grant on Giving Tuesday.
