The Steelcase Library on the City Campus was closed during the summer for remodeling. The changes made centralize library resources and make it easier for students to utilize those resources.

Knowledge Market services and Tutoring Services are available outside of the library entrance in the DeVos Center. A receptionist was added to help students coming to the Speech Lab and Writing Center for consultations or during drop-in hours. Additionally, the Universal Testing Center (see below) is now on the ground floor of the library.

The Steelcase Library has new hours and will be staffed from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

“Another benefit of locating all these services is, hopefully, raising awareness of all these offerings,” said Jon Jeffryes, associate dean for Curriculum, Research and User Services.

Jeffryes, Jen Torreano, director of the Knowledge Market, and Miranda Krajniak, director of Public and Access Services and head of Library Access Support Services, are focused on carrying the vibrancy of student life at the libraries on the Valley Campus to the City Campus.

Universal Testing Center opens
The Steelcase Library includes the new Universal Testing Center. A grand opening for the space will be held on October 16, 3-5 p.m. Students can tour the space, meet the staff and learn about services offered by the center.

The UTC features 27 individual testing stations, which sport flexible layouts to maximize student comfort. There are five private testing rooms for special circumstances. With student needs in mind, the center was designed to be a quiet testing environment with minimal distractions.

Students can use the UTC if they need to make up an exam due to illness, scheduling conflicts or other emergencies. Additional accommodations are available in the UTC through Student Accessibility Resources.
