recognized for outstanding contributions or had their research
published are detailed below. The campus community can submit

In the News Cody Kirby, visiting professor of
economics, was interviewed by Crain's
Grand Rapids Business and WGVU
Public Media for stories about data from the 2025 Health Check
report, which presents a statistical look at the health of Michiganders.
Louis Moore, professor of history, was interviewed by
Michigan Public for a story about
Super Bowl LIX quarterbacks and his book, "The Great Black
Hope: Doug Williams, Vince Evans, and the Making of the Black Quarterback."
Phillip Todd, assistant director for the Office of
Multicultural Affairs, and student A’shyah Zander were interviewed by
WOOD-TV for a story about a Black
History Month event that highlighted student organizations.
Sketches Aaron Mowen, director of Recreation and
Wellness, was elected as the Region III representative for the
National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA).
Jeff Kelly Lowenstein, associate professor of
journalism, broadcasting and digital media, gave a presentation,
"Pitch Perfect: How to Prepare that Winning Grant Proposal,"
at the African Investigative Journalism Conference.
Darren Walhof, professor of political science, gave a
presentation, "Practical Wisdom in a Conspiratorial Age," at
the Northeastern Political Science Association, in Boston, Massachusetts.
Susan Strouse, associate professor of nursing, gave a
presentation, "Professional Identity: Essential for Nursing
Leadership," at the Organizational Leadership Network
pre-conference sponsored by the American Association of Colleges of
Nursing, in Washington, D.C.
Adam Harris, director of TRIO Upward Bound Detroit, received an award from the YMCA of Metro Detroit that recognizes people who build inclusive communities. Joel Schut and music students were interviewed about the song they recorded for the Acrisure Amphitheater.
Sanjivan Manoharan, associate professor of mechanical engineering, was named a MASU Distinguished Professor of the Year. Computing faculty member Paul Fink received NIH grants for two accessibility projects.
