Starting May 1, smoking and vaping will not be allowed on any university property. This enforcement follows the interim policy that was established in April 2024 to be in effect for one year.

Smoking cessation resources are available at local pharmacies, primary health care providers and local health departments. The GVSU Alcohol and Other Drugs Services office has an online nicotine assessment posted. There are other resources listed on the policy webpage, including this from the National Cancer Institute.

Last year, Grand Valley received a grant from the Truth Initiative to adopt and implement a 100% tobacco/vape-free policy.

National Health Promoting Campus Week
GVSU is participating in National Health Promoting Campus Week, which runs April 21-25.

The U.S. Health Promoting Campuses Network is leading this celebration to recognize higher education institutions that are actively implementing the Okanagan Charter and fostering systems-based, collective impact approaches to health promotion in higher education.
