recognized for outstanding contributions or had their research
published are detailed below. The campus community can submit

Miloš Topic, vice president for Information
Technology, was interviewed by CNBC for a story about the potential of
AI helping to identify students who need assistance. Topic is a member
of the CNBC
Technology Executive Council.
Chad Frederick, associate professor of geography and
sustainable planning, was interviewed by This Old House for a story
about housing
growth trends.
Sketches The GVSU National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC)
Team earned a Gold American Advertising Award for their work
on the Tide campaign. The NSAC Team, housed in the advertising/public
relations program in the School of Communications, competed against
100 other universities to devise the best campaign for a real Fortune
500 company.
Shane McSauby, visiting professor of film and video,
was a panelist at SXSW 2025 in Austin, Texas, and presented "The
Beguiling," a film he directed and served as screenwriter.
Amy Rohn, assistant professor of nursing, gave
presentations: "Addressing Health Care Disparities for Youth in
Foster Care: Towards an Integrated Health Care Model," at the
Michigan CASA Conference; "Cross-Curricular Integration of ACEs
Knowledge in a Baccalaureate Nursing Program," at the Michigan
ACE Initiative Conference; and "Adverse Childhood Events and
Nursing Education," at the Michigan Chapter of the American
Psychiatric Nurses Association Conference.
Jeff Kelly Lowenstein, associate professor of
journalism, broadcasting and digital media, is the founder of the
Center for Collaborative Investigative Journalism, which received a Journalism
AI Challenge Innovation grant. Lowenstein also wrote an article
about a reverse
mortgage scam for the Chicago Sun-Times.
Ingrid Johnson, professor of movement science, gave a
presentation, "Enhancing Teacher Education: Embracing
Professional Standards and Social Justice," at the National
Association for Kinesiology in Higher Education.
Highlights include a team of engineering students who placed third in a national competition, and an initiative from IT Innovation and Research that was featured in the 2025 Educause Horizon Report.
Joel Potrykus traveled to the Criterion Closet in New York to select his favorite films. The Wellness Information Team recognized faculty members with Well-Being Awards.
