Description of the Organization
The Holland Board of Public Works is a municipal service provider which provides utilities to the city of Holland for electric, waste water, drinking water, and internet services.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
This semester, aside from my day to day maintenance and duties, I had two big projects. One project was an enterprise wide wi-fi upgrade. The other project was a proof of concept software defined network where I worked with an external company.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I have further enhanced my technical skills in networking. This rotation however gave me more experience with time management and project management and what it is like to actually be a network engineer rather than just technically how to do things.
Favorite Part of the Experience
Having projects to work on independently was challenging but also very rewarding. I was excited to be able to work with cutting edge technology and software with my proof of concept project.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
As with previous co-op rotations it has opened my visibility into the field of networking.
