Description of the Organization

Crowe is a public accounting, consulting and technology firm that focuses on using technology to solve industry problems. The company has around 4000 employees spread out across the world.

Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed

I performed a large variety of project during my co-op but they all boiled down to one goal, evaluate the overall security posture for an organization. This included performing technical reviews such as penetration tests for a company's internal and external presence as well as policy and procedure reviews. These tasks included a lot of travel due to performing most of these assessments from the client's location. I was able to travel across the U.S. but many people from the firm travel all around the world.

Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience

This co-op taught me a lot about networking and security infrastructure. This included all the devices that are require to run, manage and maintain a network as well as the devices that are needed to secure it from threats. I learned how these devices come together to make a secure, reliable network and also the gaps that can be left when devices are misconfigured.

Favorite Part of the Experience

My favorite part of the co-op experience was getting to work with teams from all over the country and getting to travel to a wide variety of place. I got to go to many different places that I have always want to see and other that I probably would never had been to otherwise.

How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals

This experience has solidified that cybersecurity is the field that I want a career in. It is a constantly evolving field with a huge array of problems that need to be solved. This leads to a large variety of career paths that can be explored.
