Description of the Organization
JR Automation is a leading provider of automated integrated industrial solutions. The company has 2000+ employees across the United States, and has 5 business units in Holland MI. All the business units perform a myriad of automation functions to feed its market share in a timely fashion.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
My responsibilities with JR Automation had two categories; environmental documentation and machinery commissioning. Environmental documentation included researching devices to be integrated into a project, and ensuring the device met the environmental and fire retardancy per the client's specification. On the other hand, machine commissioning included certifying that all the integrated parts and devices, perform their intended functions well and efficiently.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
The skills I gained during my time at JR Automation include; - Product/Device documentation. - Machine Commissioning and Factory Acceptance Testing. - Ladder Logic Programming. - The design process and how things work within the industry.
Favorite Part of the Experience
The fair combination between the inter-disciplinary collaboratory meetings, and the alone times needed to process and find solutions to challenges.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
I did not realize that so many functions could be achieved via the implementation of PLCs (in a relatively simpler fashion in comparison to structured text) and Ladder Logic Programming. It is definitely a career option I foresee in my near future.
