Experience Information

Employer: Ravenna Pattern and Manufacturing
Job Title: Junior Engineer
Major: Mechanical Engineering
Received Credit: Yes
Paid: Yes

Description of the Organization

A Company that has committed itself to building quality foundry tooling for over 50 years, with a team of 3rd generation leadership, Ravenna Pattern has expanded their manufacturing capabilities to permanent molds, lost foam molds, prototype to production, fixtures, contract machining, and fabrication.

Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed

On any typical day, I was exposed to constructing drawings, Bill of Materials, setup sheets, process management, prominent customer interaction, developing presentations, and answering floor workers questions.

Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience

The greatest experience gained through this internship was how to communicate with machinists, assembly men, and coworkers. A great Engineer should not be confined to the inside of a cubicle, but must interact with his fellow coworkers such as machinists and assembly men.

Favorite Part of the Experience

My favorite part of this co-op experience was being given the opportunity to interact and communicate with our prominent customers. It feels great that your company trusts and respects you enough to conduct and lead meetings with their primary customers.

How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals

I hope to work at Ravenna Pattern and Manufacturing in the future.
