Description of the Organization
GV Club Sports is a good sized organization filled with multiple different sports giving oppurtunities to athletes who may not have been able to make the varsity cut after High School. This is a great oppurtunity to keep doing the sports you love.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
I was an event supervisor so I was in charge of helping run events to make sure that setup, scoring, and takedown all went smoothly. This is my 2nd year with Club Sports so I also helped in training our new workers on how these events are run. I also helped out anywhere I could in the office.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
During this internship I learned a lot about professional communication and networking. While in this internship I also was coaching Cross Country and Track at Jenison High School. This internship helped me to learn how to be professional no matter where I am, how to communicate with other coaches and officials, and also helped me greatly with time management skills.
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite part of this internship was getting to work closely with other athletes and coaches. During this I was able to learn a lot about our different coaches while also learning about sports I never watched in the past. I am very thankful for this position because I was able to learn more about sport and myself in the process.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
Working in sport while also substutute teaching on the side really helped me to figure out that I want to be a teacher/coach in the future. I learned so much about myself and want to be able to continue to help athletes do the things they love. I would love to work my way up to college sports but I have realized in this internship that high school sports is where I belong because I believe I can make the biggest difference there.
