Description of the Organization
Configura is a company that specializes in Parametric Graphical Configuration (PGC). This is done through a software package called CET Designer. This package allows users to plan spaces, design rooms or buildings, and much more. The software is very versatile and is constantly evolving with new features.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
I was given 4 tasks, and at the time of me writing this, I completed two and almost finished the third. I will still be working on it and hopefully my final assignment until the Fall semester starts. My first assignment after some initial training was to create a revision dialog. My second assignment was to improve an existing feature that allows for users to place their own images on walls. My third assignment was to create a label that will automatically increment when placed in a drawing.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I gained knowledge and experience using an advanced object orientated programming language, and the design of features with the user in mind.
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite part was the environment. Configura is unlike most American companies, in that there are no cubicles, dress code, and everyone is friendly with each other. My second favorite thing had to be the programming language. It was very interesting learning how to use it and how it works.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
My future career goals haven't changed. I still want to be a computer engineer. I just found I have more of a passion for programming than most of my peers.
