Description of the Organization
Stryker Instruments is a medical device company located in Kalamazoo, MI. This company has several different business units, including but not limited to Surgical, NSE, and IVS. I was able to work within the Surgical business unit. Within Surgical, there were a variety of different project focuses. I worked within the new product development group on the Patient and Caregiver Safety Team.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
While working with Patient and Caregiver Safety Team, I was able to have three main projects. I was able to design and build a voice of customer light fixture, a head adjustment system for the surgical helmets, and researched and built prototypes of several designs for the disposable product line.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I increased my knowledge within the mechanical design of engineering. I also was able to practice my soldering skills. I was able to practice my presentation skills within a variety of settings, including formal powerpoint presentation, team discussions, and project updates. I also practiced my time management skills.
Favorite Part of the Experience
I was given a vast amount of projects and responsibilities throughout this internship experience. The people that I worked with were wonderful as well.

This experience has influenced my future career goals by allowing me to experience the world of medical supplies.
