Description of the Organization

Magna Mirrors is a division of Magna International, one of the world's largest automotive suppliers. Magna Mirrors in Kentwood is home to approx. 150 employees in engineering, product validation, a model shop, sales, and HR.

Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed

This semester, I further developed my CAD skills with projects such as a camera mount, outside mirror blindzone signal, and electronics storage unit. I learned how to operate the CNC as well as how to test electrochromic reflectance in a temperature-controlled chamber. Over the course of the semester, I developed a standardized lighting specification procedure.

Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience

I developed CAD skills, learned many different standard testing procedures, furthered my professional communication, and got to know Magna's products better through benchmarking.

Favorite Part of the Experience

I got to know my team better as this was my second semester and develop friendships with them. I also got more advanced work than just 'intern jobs' and could advance my technical skillset.

How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals

I would love to continue to work in an innovative environment that is focused on determining what customers would like to see on the market and make those concepts a reality.
