Description of the Organization
Serling & Abramson P.C is a law firm out of Birmingham Michigan with about 35 employees. Serling & Abramson specializes in asbestos litigation, as well as medical malpractice.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
As a legal intern at Serling & Abramson, I was tasked with multiple different assignments. For the most part, I was always available to help any coworker in any way they needed. I had the opportunity to do legal research for attorney's, prepare service documents, organize discovery documents, as well as answer the office phones when needed.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I was able to sharpen my skills in legal research and writing, see first hand the process of serving a business and the documents and process that follows this, as well as basic knowledge regarding asbestos litigation.
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite part of this internship was when I was given the opportunity to research for current cases we have, as well as our summer outing to Top Golf near the end of July.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
Working for Serling & Abramson has only furthered my motivation to become an attorney. Part of why I wanted to work here was to be able to see what it's like to practice law on a day-to-day basis, and what I experienced is exactly what I hope to achieve some day.
