Description of the Organization
Wyoming High School is a public high school located in Wyoming, Michigan and is part of the Wyoming Public Schools District in Kent County, Michigan. Wyoming High School was formed from the combination of Wyoming Park High School and Rogers High School. The Wyoming Public School District has a staff of approximately 475 employees, including teachers, administrators, secretaries, paraeducators, food service, maintenance and custodial staff, bus drivers, mechanics, and community education personnel. Our student enrollment is approximately 4,500 students
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
While completing my internship for the Wyoming Wolves Athletic Department, I was in charge of mass scheduling for different sports and the corresponding conference championships and tournaments through MHSAA. I was also able to assist some Gameday preparation duties for basketball during the course of my internship.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I was able to get a glimpse into the hectic world of scheduling high school sports. Understanding a little about all the duties and responsibilities that are handed down to an Atheltic Director have provided me with valuable insight.
Favorite Part of the Experience
It was interesting to help schedule athletics for teams that I have been familiar with my entire life. Understanding a little more on what goes on behind the scenes to make Michigan Athletics work was a great experience.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
During my time here I was able to see what it took to be a high school Athletic Director. Although my current plans do not involve high school athletics, after my time at Wyoming I am certainly more open to the possibility.
