Description of the Organization
Hydro-Chem Systems, Inc. is an employee owned company that sells, manufactures, and installs automated truck washing systems. It is composed of about 40 employees in the engineering, production, sales, service, office, and chemical departments.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
This is my third rotation of co-op with Hydro-Chem Systems, each having more responsibilities than the previous. Daily tasks included created sales and production drawings to relay information regarding installation and manufacturing. Projects included product redesign and process improvement.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
Critical skills that I gained during this experience included problem solving, team work, and information communication.
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite part about this co-op experience was when I went to see a system installation. This experience allowed me to get a better idea of how our product works and what steps are required to make the pieces of the puzzle fit together. I also enjoyed the direct contact with the customer, this help me to get a better idea of what they wanted and how we can deliver that for them.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
I now have a better appreciation for product design and development. Continuous improvement of products and processes should always be a goal.
