Description of the Organization

Eaton is a very diversified organization in MANY fields including Automotive, Electric, and Aerospace. They deal with many other large corporations and employ millions of people worldwide.

Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed

As a Design Intern in the Supercharger sector I worked in ProE to update drawings and submit revisions. I also did approval tasks to ensure that other people's corrections were on par. There were also many drawings that needed to be categorized by specific dimensions and traits which I created spreadsheets for and reference documents for the data. I also designed a request system for the production plants to submit design requests via SharePoint.

Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience

I gained a more in-depth knowledge of ProE and other software including SharePoint and Enovia. I also learned good communication and organization skills which were needed to complete many of the projects I was assigned.

Favorite Part of the Experience

My favorite part was getting to know so many people. Just in our small supercharger sector at Eaton there are eight different groups specializing in different things (design, engineering, R&D, supply chain, etc.) so it is easy to get to know people involved in all parts of the engineering process. Everyone is very nice and very willing to meet with you, let you sit in on meetings, and give you advice about their own career which makes it easier to go into something you want in the future.

How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals

I was able to arrange a meeting with the Eaton Patent Lawyer after I shared my dream of going to Law School with one of the chief engineers. After our meeting and all of the information he has given me I have decided to pursue that dream after graduation. With Eaton's help I was able to get many questions answered and so much advice for the future. It has also taught me that I will likely not work in the automotive sector in the future.
