L3Harris - 3rd Rotation Co-Op

Experience Information

Employer: L3Harris
Job Title: Test Engineer
Major: Electrical Engineering
Received Credit: Yes
Paid: Yes

Description of the Organization

L3Harris is an avionics and aviation technology company that manufactures products like flight stabilizers, HUD devices, and flight data recorders. L3Harris operates worldwide in both the commercial and defense sectors with over 50,000 employees worldwide.

Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed

Throughout the semester, I worked on a lot of different projects that involved things such as library development, program verification, and hardware maintenance and repairs. Most of the time spent during this semester was dedicated to writing the testing program that will be used for an upcoming product, which I was primarily responsible for.

Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience

During this semester, I further refined my C programming skills, which I believe to be one of my stronger skills now, whereas during my first rotation at L3Harris, I considered it among my weakest skills. I also learned more about cross referencing engineering schematics and design specifications.

Favorite Part of the Experience

The best part about this co-op rotation was the responsibility I was given. While it was intimidating and a bit scary at first, it feels nice to be trusted with the work that everyone else on the team is trusted to do and makes me feel more like a part of the team, rather than a temporary co-op position.

How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals

This co-op experience left my future career goals unchanged.
