Description of the Organization
Tech Defenders is an Information Technology Asset Disposition company of around 200 employees. It buys, refurbishes, and repairs devices then resells them.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
Tech Defenders recently switched to a new instance of their cloud storage. One of my main tasks was to migrate this data. I pulled it from their Net Suite instance, and then built a new Postgres database with Google Cloud SQL to move their data to. After the data was moved, I built a front end with R-Shiny so that the other employees could easily access the old data.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I gained a lot of experience with working with large data sets. This was also the first time I made a R-Shiny application in a professional setting.
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite part was working with the other members of the system team to learn how to manage user information. I had never done that kind of project before so it was interesting to learn.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
The systems team at TD was very close knit. I am beginning my job search this summer and I want to find a job that has a similar company culture to TD.
