Description of the Organization
WOOD TV 8 and WOTV 4 are the news channels for all of West Michigan. They deal with on-air news, web site news, and also hold events throughout the year for the community.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
I helped with the website portion of things. I edited and wrote articles. I also got to come up with fun Photo galleries to put up. I also helped with the events put on for the community. I got to see how the news was shot and put together.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I gained a lot of knowledge about how a company markets themselves, and what works on a website and what doesn't. I learned a lot about website stuff, like how to do posts, and make picture galleries, and how to plan an event.
Favorite Part of the Experience
I liked being able to be creative, but at the same time I also used my English major when I had to edit/write.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
I know now that even as an English major I can do different things besides just edit or read things. I liked seeing how English can be used in many different areas.
