Guest speaker Delia Fernández is an assistant professor of History at Michigan State University. She is also a core faculty member in the Chicano/Latino Studies Program. Her research centers on Latino placemaking in the Midwest. She is particularly interested in how they transform the places they live in to suit their political, economic, and social needs. Her current book manuscript is under contract with the University of Illinois Press’s Latinos in Chicago and the Midwest Series.
