Interested in international service? Curious about the Peace Corps? Eager to learn more about the application process? Join this Information Session to hear from and ask questions of GV alum Adam Blugerman '20 (now a Peace Corps Volunteer in Kyrgyzstan).

The Peace Corps is a service opportunity for motivated changemakers to immerse themselves in a community abroad, working side by side with local leaders to tackle the most pressing challenges of our generation. The Peace Corps is an independent agency and volunteer program run by the United States Government providing international social and economic development assistance.

Peace Corps Volunteers work abroad for a period of 24 months after 3 months of training. Volunteers work with governments, schools, non-profit organizations, non-government organizations, and entrepreneurs in education, hunger, business, information technology, agriculture, and the environment. Peace Corps Volunteers serve in 75 countries in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Central America and Mexico, South America, Europe, the Pacific Islands and the Middle East. PCVs receive a living allowance, free travel and transition reward after completing 27 months of service. Peace Corps is open to U.S. citizens age 18 and older who are curious about the world and committed to helping others.

Peace Corps service occurs in six sectors: Education, Youth in Development, Agriculture, Health, Environment, and Economic Development.  Education and Youth in Development are historically the sectors with the largest percentage of positions available. You may apply for a particular position or for a ‘highest need’ position.  The key to a successful application is to apply well before the deadline and to work closely throughout the process with your Peace Corps Regional Recruiter (Emily Nguyen is the Michigan State PC Recuiter).
