Presentation Title: Kreisleriana by Robert Schumann
Abstract:
Kreisleriana is a large-scale work that consists of eight movements. I will examine how Robert Schumann achieves a structural unity from discrete characters and movements. Each movement displays contrasting characters. Once we understand his ýWitý and his own duality, we can discover that the characters are closely related. Also, Robert Schumann unfolds eight individual movements that in fact, are brilliantly linked by two characters from E. T. A Hoffmannýs novels as well as Clara themes.
