Groundswell and its parent organization, the Great Lakes Stewardship Initiative, invite you to join us for the annual Place-Based Education Conference this November.

Join Groundswell at the National Place-Based Education Conference this fall; GLSI's 8th convening of this amazing event. Come experience a three-day event designed to inspire and support a community of educators around the power of place-based learning. Why attend? Place-based education transforms how teachers teach and how students learn by expanding classrooms to include a community’s organizations, history, and natural features. Investing in place helps youth engage in meaningful learning and civic life, provides vital support for teachers, and strengthens communities. This conference is open to university faculty and students, all K-12 educators and students, non-formal educators, natural resource professionals, staff of community organizations, business leaders, policy makers, and funders. Connect with West Michigan’s history, culture, and environment through one of our “in place” Thursday Immersion Experiences; learn from Braiding Sweetgrass for Young Adults author Monique Gray-Smith in her Friday keynote; and network with colleagues from around Michigan and beyond as we connect with others to generate ideas for powerful teaching and learning.

SCECHs available for the conference based on event attendance.
