Facilitator Job Description: 

As a facilitator, you will be responsible for the development and piloting of a face to face summer camp for middle school students. The work, beginning predominately in the Spring semester 2023, will be preparing and piloting the camp materials. In June, all facilitators will lead 48 middle school students through a one-week summer camp experience (June 26 - 29). Summarizing work will be done during the summer semester with the potential to continue work in the fall. The camp will be held at the GVSU Allendale Campus.

Priority will be given to the applicants that have the following qualifications:

• Major in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) field. 
• Future in education and/or engineering.
• Experience with Design Thinking.
• Experience working with Middle School students.
• Experience  working with individuals from diverse backgrounds. 
• Knowledge and passion for renewable energy and sustainable practice. 

Training provided:

Facilitators will be paired with a faculty mentor in order to develop expertise in a particular field of renewable energy. Also, all facilitators will be trained in the Design Thinking Process with a focus on the use of the Innovators Compass. All sessions will be co-facilitated and the feedback cycle will inform the work of the full team. Facilitators will be paid an hourly rate for development, team meetings, and facilitation time. Approximately 50 hours of work is estimated for each semester. Research will be tied to this experience as partnerships with the community will be an ongoing core competency to support students where they are.
