Homage to our Future Leaders

The GVSU: Center for Women & Gender Equity hosts the  Annually in March during Women's History Month. The program connected 6th-12th grade students from our surrounding communities for a full day of hands-on social justice and leadership workshops. Last year in March 2023 this event provided this experience free of charge for over 250 students throughout the state. The Summit provided space for youth to unify and develop as student leaders and engage in a common purpose, positively impacting their selves, their communities, and the world- all while being led by local BIPOC leaders.

The GOCS allows us to carry on our mission of gender justice to educate our campus and community through unifying student leaders to engage in a common purpose to create a positive impact in the world.  GOCS highlights the importance of centering the experiences of girls, women of color, and other non-conforming gender identities in empowering the community to develop leaders who advance a culture of gender justice.
