Understand what stress is:

Identify the signs and symptoms of stress:

Physical Signs/Symptoms

  • Fatigue
  • Sleep trouble
  • Stomachache
  • Nausea
  • Chest pain
  • Muscle tension
  • Headaches and migraines
  • Sweating
  • Weakened immune system

​​​​​​​Emotional Signs/Symptoms

  • Loss of motivation
  • Irritability
  • Anger
  • Anxiety
  • Depression or sadness
  • Restlessness
  • Inability to focus
  • Mood instability
  • Decreased sex drive

Behavioral Signs/Symptoms

  • Unhealthy eating (over or under eating)
  • Drug use
  • Alcohol use
  • Social withdrawal
  • Isolation
  • Nail-biting
  • Constant thoughts about stressors

Practice coping with stress:

2. Adopt a “prevention” mindset.

Prevention - do activities repeatedly over time to help prevent stress instead of only using coping skills to remove unwanted feelings in the moment.

  4. Encounter
