Description
The Getting Ready to Apply Workshops are designed for students who will be applying to medical, dental, pharmacy, vet, optometry, podiatry, or chiropractic school in 2026 (for 2027 admission). Join us on the following Fridays to prepare yourself for the upcoming application season. All workshops will be held in MAK C-1-130 (classroom between the CLAS Advising Offices). Students who attend all four (4) of the workshops, will be entered in a drawing to receive a 50% off voucher for Princeton Review test prep resources.
- January 23 from Noon-12:50pm– Getting Ready to Apply & Selecting Schools Advisors will share information about the application process, timeline, and what applicants need to do to prepare for the process. Participants will also learn what factors should be considered in developing their list of schools where they plan to apply.
- January 30 from Noon-12:50pm – Self-Assessment & Case Studies Advisors will discuss what makes a competitive applicant, and share case studies of GVSU students who have successfully matriculated to professional programs. Participants will also be introduced a self-assessment to help determine if they are ready to apply.
- February 6 from Noon-12:50pm – Pre-Writing: Personal Statements & Experiences Writing personal statements and experiences can be the most daunting part of the application process. Participants will learn how to tell their story effectively, and how to avoid common mistakes.
- February 13 from Noon-12:50pm – Letters of Evaluation & Words of Advice Learn all about letters of evaluation including who to ask, how to request, and other details about getting letters submitted, including the CLAS Advising Letter Packet service. We will also have guest speakers who will share words of advice about the application process.
