Empowering Young Students Through Animation

Professors in Visual and Media Arts Department explore ways that animation can be a universal tool for storytelling, visualizing content, as well as a method for engaging undergraduate students as mentors in the community. In conjunction with The Community Media Center, ASIFA International, and "The Animator's Guild" a campus-based student organizations, Assistant Professor Julie Goldstein and Affiliate Professor Suzanne Zack, implemented a student mentoring program and designed strategies and techniques for integrating the language of animation into an Environmental Science Project at North Park Montessori Middle School in Grand Rapids.
