Meet Kel
Kel has worked at Grand Valley State University since 2022 after 10 years of working in PK-12th grade education. She has worked previously in roles with Federal TRIO Programs and within the College of Education and Community Innovation. She is an alumni of Grand Valley, graduating in 2018 with triple majors in Elementary Education, English Language and Literature, and German Language and Culture. Kel recently graduated in April of 2025 with her Masters of Arts in Social Innovation, graduating with distinction for contributions to her field. Her research and presentations at Teaching for Equity, the Teach-in, and other community workshops center equity and racial justice. She is also a part of the Grand Rapids Women's Chorus, the Grand Rapids Womxn's Circle, and the LGBTQ+ Faculty Staff Association.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with friends, exploring local restaurants, markets, and community events, traveling, reading, and taking care of her three cats, Meeko, Mila, and Mazie.
