Graduation & Program Completion Requirements

Upon successful completion, this program awards a Master of Science degree and a verification statement that provides eligibility to sit for the registration exam leading to the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential. For more information regarding the examination, refer to the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) website at www.cdrnet.org

A verification statement is granted only under the following circumstances:

  1. The graduate student has demonstrated competence as an entry-level practitioner through the maintenance of a 3.0 or higher overall GPA in graduate courses and satisfactory completion of supervised practice hours and competencies. 
  2. The graduate student has maintained the professional and ethical code of conduct.
  3. The graduate student has met all financial obligations to GVSU.
  4. The graduate student has:
    1. Completed their demographic profile in the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) Registration Eligibility Processing System (REPS)
    2. Applied to graduate in the semester before graduation.
    3. Requested that final official transcripts be released to the program director when their degree is awarded.
    4. Reviewed the RDE Misuse Policy.
