As Preparator for the Art Gallery, Dru:
- assists in the construction, fabrication, and installation of exhibitions in all campus gallery spaces
- assists in the preparation and installation of artwork in all GVSU public buildings
- assists in handling and preparing artworks for display, storage, and movement
- oversees all matting and framing of artwork including art on paper, textiles, paintings and other two-dimensional works of art
Dru King has been a preparator at Grand Valley State University’s Art Gallery Department since 2003. He earned his BFA at GVSU in 2001 and his MFA at Kendall College of Art and Design in 2009. After receiving his MFA, Dru taught drawing courses at Kendall and at Grand Valley. His responsibilities at the Art Gallery include matting and framing of artwork as well as exhibit and building installations. He is also a local artist that focuses on painting and drawing. Examples of his artwork are on permanent display in the GVSU collection and at the Betty Van Andel Opera Center in Grand Rapids.
