Accreditation & Student Learning Outcomes
All Allied Health Sciences baccalaureate degrees and emphases are accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.
In addition, Allied Health Sciences has implemented the following Student Learning Outcomes through the University Assessment Committee:
SLO #1 (AHS Major)
- Students will demonstrate proficiency in synthesizing multiple sources of medical information, including identifying, interpreting, communicating, and applying medical information.
SLO #2 (AHS Major)
- Students will demonstrate foundational knowledge related to individual and system-level cultural proficiency, including topics related to health disparities, valuing diversity, and bias.
SLO #3 (AHS-GEN)
- Students will display career readiness, as defined by career exploration, post-graduate destination planning, and networking abilities.
SLO #4 (AHS-Pre-PT)
- Students will demonstrate clinical reasoning skills by utilizing critical thinking, and legal and ethical principles to develop appropriate action plans related to healthcare scenarios.
SLO #5 (AHS-Pre-PA)
- Students will utilize foundational medical information to apply principles of evidence-based medicine, including research evaluation and integration findings in clinical healthcare appraisals
SCO #6 (AHS-HPD)
- Students will report 80% satisfaction with AHS-HPD learning structure, including healthcare course content, scheduling, and career advancement support.
SLO #7 (AHS Social Sciences)
- Students will demonstrate practical understanding of the importance of social justice and health equity.
SLO #8 (Histotechnology)
- Students will demonstrate proficient knowledge and application of cellular and laboratory procedures.
SLO #9 (AHS Gen-MPH Combined Degree)
- Students will demonstrate proficiency in pre-graduate-level academic writing skills including grammar and citation mechanics (professional writing style).
SLO #10 (AHS SS-MPH Combined Degree)
- Students will demonstrate an understanding of the key concepts and theories from social sciences relevant to healthcare, including sociology, psychology, and public health.
SLO #11 (AHS Gen-MAT Combined Degree)
- Students will demonstrate sufficient, foundational knowledge of human body systems and around interprofessional healthcare.
