Then join us at the first talk of our Computing Industry
Colloquium series, titled” AI and ML in
Cybersecurity.” The speaker for this talk is Buzz Walsh,
Ph.D., who has been in the cybersecurity industry for 29 years and is
currently serving as a Principal Cyber Operations Engineer at the
MITRE Corporation based in Colorado.

Talk Title: AI and ML in Cybersecurity
Talk Abstract: A brief review of selected cybersecurity history followed by a discussion of artificial intelligence and machine learning as it relates to potential capabilities across the spectrum of cyber operations. Automated capabilities present straightforward advantages in some defensive engagement areas but potential liabilities in others.
Speaker Bio: Buzz Walsh has been a defensive cyber operations engineer with the Mitre Corporation for 14 years. Previously he served as an Air Force officer for twenty years with roles including flight test engineer, nuclear effects engineer, and Air Force Academy faculty. At the Pentagon, he established cyber operations practices for the US Defense Department and advises foreign governments regarding their cyber operations. Across the government, private sector, and now in the not-for-profit sector, Buzz has been an active contributor in cyber for 29 years. He has served in various faculty positions at ten universities and colleges. He earned his Ph.D. and BS in Computer Science from that green school down I-96 and his MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of New Mexico.
