Yasmin Alemayehu
Yasmin Alemayehu is a second-year Cook Leadership Academy Fellow and
an undergraduate student enrolled in Elementary Education with an
Emphasis in Applied Linguistics. Yasmin is currently an ESL
Interventionist at a local elementary school within the Grand Rapids
district and spends her free time at her local refugee education
center as an English tutor. Yasmin is co-founder of Educators of Color
Network student organization and holds the role of Community Outreach
Coordinator. At GVSU, Yasmin is also a part of the McNair Scholars
Program and the Frederik Meijer Honors College, with hopes of
furthering her research revolving around linguistic discrimination and
injustices within the education system. After graduation, Yasmin plans
to go to graduate school with hopes of teaching internationally
shortly after.
