Locke Afton
Locke Afton is a junior at Grand Valley State University double
majoring in Pre-Med Biomedical Sciences and Psychology, with minors in
History of Science and Healthcare Ethics. Also part of the Frederik
Meijer Honors College, Afton is driven by an innate curiosity and
passion for knowledge that launches him towards his goal of bringing
about positive change in the world through research and activism.
Outside of academia, he is a licensed Emergency Medical Technician and
a live-in Patient Aide, spending much of his time caring for patients
both at home and in the hospital post-surgical recovery with the aim
of one day becoming a surgeon himself. In his free time, Afton also
enjoys writing and publishing creative stories online, drawing and
animation, donating blood plasma, and seeking out any and all
opportunities to better the world around him. He is a first-year new
fellow to the Cook Leadership Academy, and looks forward to further
developing his skills and learning new ways to make a difference.
