Filmmaker/screenwriter

I'm a freelance videographer and screenwriter, and I produce and direct narrative independent films. I also teach courses and seminars on screenwriting, film & video production, and media literacy from time to time.

I'm a screenwriter, so writing is obviously a big part of that. 

After graduation, I attended a few other screenwriting programs before getting into teaching at a local film college. I've been writing and directing movies since I was a kid, originally as a hobby; but during my 20s, I started taking it more seriously. I directed my first indie feature in 2012, and my writing partner and I optioned our first script around the same time. A few years ago, we sold a screenplay for a horror/thriller called Wounds, which completed post-production earlier this year and is currently being shopped with distributors.

Certainly, the play writing courses I took had an impact since writing plays and writing screenplays are both forms of narrative dramatic writing. 

Write what interests you, and make it interesting to your audience. It's hard to stand out, so don't be afraid to get weird. If you want to do it for a career, practice a lot and be patient and resilient. It's a marathon, not a sprint.
