To increase rates of academic achievement, retention, and graduation among historically underrepresented students interested in the STEM - Health Science majors by providing holistic and individualized support services that maximize students' innate abilities, draw upon available resources within and outside of the university, and benefit students, families and the larger community.

TRiO Student Support Services STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math) - Health Science (TRiO STEM) is a federally-funded, comprehensive support program for first-generation and limited-income college students.

Scheduling made easy! Select the best day and time to meet your advisor. In-person appointments are offered in 200 Student Service Building (STU) on the Allendale Campus. Phone or email appointments will need advisor approval. 


Tutoring

If you need a tutor, you can request a tutor from the Tutoring Center at www.gvsu.edu/tc

TRiO STEM is offering extra tutoring for our participants in MTH 110, MTH 122, CHM 231 and BIO 120. This is an hour tutoring session. These sessions are offered Monday-Friday from 8:00am to 6:00pm in 200 STU.

McNair Scholars Program Applications

The Ronald E. McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement program is designed to encourage highly talented undergraduate students whose parents have no four-year college degree and are lower-income, or students in ethnic groups underrepresented at the doctoral level, to pursue a Ph.D. The program accepts students from all disciplines.

All scholars receive a $4000 stipend to participate in a 12-week intensive summer experience, housing included. Scholars also receive graduate applications and GRE preparation, and assistance with the graduate school application process. The McNair Scholars Program also pays for the scholars’ travel for graduate school visits
