Applying for your Passport

A new policy was announced by the State Department in 2010, allowing individuals to more easily update the gender marker on their US Passport. To acquire a passport with a corrected gender marker, applicants must submit all required paperwork and a letter from a physician certifying that the applicant has had or is receiving appropriate clinical treatment for gender transition. Documentation of gender confirmation surgery is no longer required.

For more information about this, including a sample physician certification letter, visit Trans Equality's Know Your Rights Passport page, click here
