Studying abroad in Bilbao, Spain, at the University of Deusto was a journey of growth and connection that changed me forever. I lived with a host mom, who only spoke Spanish, immersing me in the language and culture in ways I never imagined. One of my most cherished memories was when she took me to her favorite beach. We sat together on the side of a cliff, watching the waves crash against the rocks below, the sea stretching before us. In that quiet moment, I realized I had found a home not only in Spain but in her. That bond, and the lessons I learned about resilience, openness, and the beauty of human connection, will stay with me for the rest of my life.
