Jason Brooks, Australia
My trip to the world down under taught me something new and powerful. No matter where you go, people in the modern age are doing their best to look after and protect the natural world. Beyond that, I've made life-long friends I would like to visit again someday. We had fun along the beach, explored new places like the zoo, and partied non-stop. The greatest lesson here is that no matter how hard life can get, there's always someone who'll see you for the person you truly are. That's why the only thing more important than a location's climate is like, is what its people are like.
The trip to Sydney, Australia impacted my journey to become the best conservationist there'll ever be in a multitude of ways. Macquarie University taught me what steps are already taken to combat the invasive species that threaten native life with extinction, as well as strategies to handle climate change. The various national parks sprinkled throughout North Ryde, the movie theater, the university campus, Manly Beach and more were breath taking and awe inspiring. Plus, the people were amazing with their accents and mannerisms. The friends I've made there will never be forgotten, and for some, I'll be returning to meet them again someday. That's because the trip was so special that I may return sometime soon.
