Taylor Hinson, Chile

Taylor Hinson, Chile

The experience of Study Abroad is something that no amount of vacations can compare to. Living in Chile for three months taught me more about myself--the type of people that I'm drawn to, the atmospheres that I'm able to adapt to, the roadblocks and mountains that I'm able to overcome--than I'd ever know in the 19 years of my life. It really did change my perspective on ways of life, from the food to the education, to the travel, to family life. A family welcomed me into their house without knowing hardly anything about me and shortly became my comfort and rock. One weekend I stayed in a tiny hostel with a freezing shower but hiked the driest desert in the world. The next weekend I puked my guts out from altitude sickness but visited one of the seven wonders of the world, the amazing Machu Picchu. I jumped out of a plane the day after I scaled one of the world's tallest active volcanoes. I never thought I'd be a part of something so eye-opening! Chile will always mean so much to me and my fellow classmates, we are already planning our return!
