I'm currently apart of the sociology club and the student senate here at Grand Valley. My role and positions in these two organizations include being a social media coordinator and a public relations general senator. Being a social media coordinator, I've gained experience in advertisement and event planning. Being on the public relations committee for student senate has so far given me experience in Grand Valley's current legislation, tabling for events, and being a part of the student senate.

" I want to represent a non-traditional, first-generation, and parent-student population. " I want to make a positive impact here at Grand Valley. " I believe in inclusivity and diversity and would love to bring my perspective/ and ideas to the student senate. What changes would I like to make on campus? " I would like to investigate affordable housing plans for non-traditional and/or culturally diverse students. " I would like to focus on resources for students to maintain GVSUs ideology of inclusivity and equity. " I would like to make study abroad, internship, and undergraduate research programs more accessible and advertised in terms of the application processes.

My name is Alexandra Strand and I'm a non-traditional transfer student. I have a five-year-old son who's my biggest motivator. My goals in life include becoming a professor of sociology, breaking generational poverty, making a positive impact in othersý lives, and helping others who face systemic barriers. I'm a very passionate person who wholeheartedly believes in inclusivity, diversity, and being a voice that speaks up for the people. I love learning in general but I'm passionate about society, history, and culture. Currently, I'm involved in two GVSU organizations- The student senate & The sociology club. These organizations are both incredibly important to me and I take my role in them seriously. Outside of Grand Valley, I work in the food service industry as a server, which I do enjoy. In my free time I love watching anime, reading, and being outside with my son.
