Candidate Bio
Hello, my name is Zuriel Johnson and I am running to be on Diversity Affairs for the student senate. This will be my third year of Student Senate next school year being my fourth. While in the Senate I've had the great opportunity to work with many of my peers on different projects like celebrating Womenýs History Month as well as Black History Month, and Native American Heritage Month. I have written in collaboration with the LGBT resource center legislation on Gender neutral bathrooms for the GVSU campus this year that is getting passed in March, as well as creating a piece of legislation for the next school year about counting ASL as a language for all students similar to the languages already counted such as French, and Spanish. With these plans for the next school year, I hope to also create a more welcoming environment for minority students, as well as a more inclusive one for all students on campus. With this coming year, I hope to also put on more events in Diversity affairs to show our outreach to campus, as we should strive to pull together the gap between the Student Senate and the actual students on campus. I hope that you choose me again to be a representative for your voice on the Student Senate body.
