2018. The performance of non accounting business majors enrolled across
the 13 sections was isolated for the purposes of this assessment.

established threshold. Student average ranged from 3.2-4.0 and 79-100%
of the students performed at level 3 or above on the four-point scale
rubric.

The objective was assessed in MGT 331 in Winter 2018. The mean scores on
4/6 traits measured by the rubric exceeded the threshold.
Outcome B Functional Business Knowledge
Objective 1
Students will apply disciplinary knowledge to solve problems.

The Major Field Test (MFT) by ETS was administered in seven sections of
MGT 495 (Capstone) in Winter 2021. 254 Business Majors took the test.
Student performance (154) was above the national average (149.3) and met
the established threshold.

This objective was assessed in six sections of MGT 495 in Fall 2018. The
performance of 184 non-accounting business majors enrolled in the six
sections of MGT 495 was isolated for the purposed of this assessment.

Performance on each question on the test is reported in terms of the
percentage of students who answered the question correctly. 48.22% of
Seidman business students answered the questions chosen correctly in
comparison to 48.04% nationally.

Scores for the Major Field Tests are reported on a scale of 120-200. The
average score of business students was 150.5 which was comparable to the
performance of students at our competitive institutions (average=150.9).
In terms of specific discipline areas, our students performed either at
par or better than the competitive group in accounting, economics,
finance, marketing, legal & social environment, international
business and information systems. The student performance was marginally
below the competitive group in management and quantitative business
analysis.
Outcome C Informed Decision Making
Objective 1
Students will analyze and integrate the impact of strengths, weaknesses,
opportunities, and threats in business decisions.

Student performance on criterion 1, 2 and 5 of the four-point scale
rubric was satisfactory. An average of 90.3% of the students sampled
performed at level 3 or 4 on a four-point scale rubric.

Average scores ranged from 2.7 to 2.9. Between 61% to 81% of the
students sampled performed at level 3 or 4 on a four-point scale rubric.
Objective 2
Students will integrate global and cultural factors into the
decision-making process.

Student performance on criterion criterion 3 and 4 of the four-point
scale rubric was satisfactory. An average of 72.5% of the students
sampled performed at level 3 or 4 on a four-point scale rubric.

Average scores ranged from 1 to 2.2. Between 0% to 33% of the students
sampled performed at level 3 or 4 on a four-point scale rubric.
Outcome D Ethics and Values
Objective 1
Students will apply ethical theories and models to decision making.

Criterion four on the rubric is used to measure this objective. Student
performance was satisfactory and improved from 67% to 70% of the
students performing at level 3 or above on criterion 4 of the four-point
scale rubric.
2018 Status
Achieved
A total of 264 students were assessed across different disciplines and
delivery of instruction. The average student performance was 3.11 and
72.73% of the students performed at level 3 or above.
Objective 2
Students will identify their own values and understand how value systems
impact decision-making.

2021 Status
Achieved
Criterion 1, 2, 3 and 5 of the four-point scale rubric are used to
measure this objective. Although, on average 76.5% of the students
performed at level 3 or above on the four-point scale overall, their
performance on stakeholder identification and Personal Voice and Action
was below the threshold.
