Outcome TR - A TR Process

To demonstrate knowledge, skills and abilities in the TR process
Objective 1 Students will be able to demonstrate skills and abilities in the area of assessment, treatment and program planning, facilitation and leadership, evaluation, and documentation as related to carrying out the TR process.

Due to significant operational and staffing changes occurring at the partner organization at the beginning of the semester/course start, the Therapeutic Recreation faculty were unable to implement this specific project. A modified assignment was implemented over a shorter period of the semester.

100% of recreational therapy students are receiving a rating of achieves expectation (3), above expectation (4), or exceeds expectation (5), demonstrating their competency on the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation process during their clinical internships.

Achieved. 100% of students (35/35) were rated at a 3.0 or higher on a 5 point scale related to their skills using the therapeutic recreation treatment process.

Outcome TR - B Written Communication

Write effectively for multiple purposes and audiences.

Objective 1 Conduct, analyze, and present written information in an organized manner relevant to professional practice.

Student achievement on the comprehensive program plan was that 100% of students received a 80% or better. The lowest grade this year was a B+ (90%).

Work together and share the workload equitably to progress toward shared objectives leaned through structure activities that occur over a significant period of time.
Objective 1 Students will demonstrate the ability to work together and share the workload equitably to progress toward shared goals, such as programming, leadership/facilitation, interventions, and research, over the course of a semester.

40/40 (100%) of students received a score of 90% or better on a peer teamwork evaluation following completion of a semester long project.

100% (40/40) of first year students in the Therapeutic Recreation program participated in a team project serving a community organization. Events were held with six community agencies.

In 2017, 100% of therapeutic recreation majors received a grade of 90% or higher on the group project (Leadership in Therapeutic Recreation). Events were held at six community partner organizations.

Outcome TR - D Integration

Synthesize and apply knowledge, experiences, and multiple perspectives to new, complex situations.
Objective 1 Students will synthesize and apply knowledge, experiences and perspectives obtained during coursework to placement experiences (fieldwork and internship) to increase understanding of professional practice and working with individuals with disabilities.

The new scoring is on a 7 point scale (7 = great, 1 = none). The average score was 6.9 out of 7 for this question. 84% rated it as great (7), 8% as 6, 4% as 5. No students rated this item average (4) or lower. Therefore, 96% of students indicated an understanding of research in this course.

Outcome TR - F Problem Solving

Design and evaluate strategies to answer open-ended questions.
Objective 1 Students will design and evaluate strategies to answer open-ended questions related to consumers of TR services and professional issues throughout their coursework.
