Exercise Science, BS - Clinical Exercise Science Emphasis

Student Outcomes

Assessment of Student Outcomes

Outcome CES-B Critical Thinking

Students know the physiological basis of the acute and chronic changes associated with exercise.
Objective 9 Students apply foundations of exercise physiology to chronic disease condition impairments and training adaptations.

Measure 1

2017 Status
Not Yet Achieved
The Exercise Science program has recently dropped MOV 365 and added MOV 465, leaving more space in MOV 470 to cover chronic diseases. Thus, we expect to see improvements in scores on next reporting cycle.

Measure 2

2017 Status
Not Yet Achieved
Students measured below our target.

Outcome CES-D Information Literacy

Students can identify anatomical structures, movement terminology, and muscle function concepts when analyzing human movement.
Objective 7 Students will apply Neural-Muscular concepts to movement.

Measure 1

2018 Status
Not Yet Achieved
These are an improvement since last reporting period, but still slightly below threshold.

Measure 2

2018 Status
Not Yet Achieved
These were new questions posed and did not meet threshold. These are difficult concepts for students to apply, and will require repetition in appropriate advanced allied health courses to become proficient in understanding.

Outcome CES-E Integration

Students can assess the health and fitness of individuals and provide appropriate exercise prescriptions.
Objective 8 Students can conduct and interpret clinical exercise tests and design appropriate exercise prescriptions for chronic disease populations.
